It is completely in poetry spanning 1430 pages and overflowing with dispassionate love for the Lord. Rather, it is to be sung. SGGS was written and compiled by the Gurus themselves over the span of two centuries. SGGS also contains writings by those saints who had the same universal understanding of God, even though they might have hailed from other religious or non religious backgrounds. SGGS also contains some writings of Sikhs themselves.
